In view of the rainfall prediction in Gujarat between August 12 to 21 by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), 13 teams of NDRF have been deployed in the different areas of Gujarat. NDRF teams are at Morbi, Patan, Banaskantha and Jamnagar district. Teams are also kept on standby at Vadodara & Gandhinagar as intimated by 06 BN NDRF Unit PRO. This monsoon phase will be covering almost the whole State and extremely heavy rainfall is expected in some part of Gujarat.
NDRF Jarod Unit Commandant, Ajay Tiwari decided to deploy the teams by consulting the Government of Gujarat officials. He is closely monitoring the timely deployment by keeping the principle of Golden Hour and operational equipment and other essentials. Additionally, he is also looking after the team’s personal safety by properly briefing about COVID guidelines.
The teams are fully equipped with Special Prepared Suits which will protect them from the virus as well as not cause any hindrance during the flood rescue or evacuation in affected areas. As the NDRF teams had crocodile experience in Vadodara last year, hence the teams have been properly briefed regarding the Safety and Captive Management of crocodiles. They have been asked to keep themselves “Crockwise” to avoid any untoward incidents as this is the breeding season of these reptiles and they are noticed to be aggressive.
