16 young thalassemic patients to fly for the first time


Under the aegis of Round Table India and Ladies Circle India, 16 thalassemia patients aged between 10-16 years would be taken on a dream flight to Mumbai from Vadodara on 22nd November’18. All the children would be flying for the first time in association with The Wishing Factory.
Their wish to travel in a plane is happily fulfilled by Vadodara Vibrant Round Table (VVRT) 210 and Vadodara Vibrant Ladies Circle (VVLC) 152. The initiative is at a national level where Round Table India is conducting Flight of Fantasy. This initiative is continuing since past few years where they take underprivileged children on their first aeroplane ride to put smiles on their faces to endure they realise, ‘no dream is too big and no dreamer is too small, all you need is to believe in yourselves and your dreams.’
Upon reaching Mumbai, all the kids will be taken to an indoor entertainment theme park called Kidzania. The activities over there will help to enhance their social and cognitive skills. After that, they’ll be taken for Mumbai Darshan.
The total expense of the tour is approximately Rs 140,000 which is taken care by a joint collaboration between VVRT 210 and VVLC 152 in association with NMRT 262 and is sponsored by Colormate, co-sponsored by Lubigel LLP and Jagdish Farsan Pvt Ltd.

RT and LC India NGOs were established in India in 1962 and 1969 respectively. They aim to serve the community and develop the friendship.

Round Table is an international friendship organisation founded in the year 1927 in Norwich, England. Earlier it was just a group of 8 members but now it has grown to 43,000 members spread across 52 countries. RTI first came to India in Chennai in 1957 with 100 members. The organisation aims to provide opportunities to connect with each other and provide back to the community. They abide by the phrase ‘Adopt, Adapt and Improve’. Currently, RTI is located in 76 cities and towns comprising of businessmen, entrepreneurs, technocrats and professionals.

RTI also has its sister movement called Ladies Circle found in October 1968. It adheres to the main objectives of RTI. It aims for building friendships between like-minded young women and to create a better understanding of the obligations one owes to the society. LCI has 1600 members with 114 active circles spread across India.

The Wishing Factory works for the welfare of thalassemia major and blood cancer patients. The average life of a thalassemia major patient is 22 years.
