Milk transportation and its distribution come under essential services. Bootleggers are taking undue advantage of it and are using milk tankers to haul liquor. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Vadodara seized one such tanker with liquor worth around 18 lakhs hidden inside. Cops caught two accused and began an investigation to nab the rest.
On 21st November, Vadodara LCB acquired information about a milk tanker with registration no GJ-08-Z-5009 carrying Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from Indore, Dahod, Godhra and heading towards Anand via Halol, Jarod, Vadodara. Based on this information, the LCB kept a watch in front of the Hotel Way Wait near Jarod on Halol Vadodara Highway and cordoned the truck after it was seen.
The team caught Ramesh Kumar Bishnoi and Omprakash Bishnoi, both residents of Rajasthan sitting inside the driver’s cabin. While inspecting, the team found 4,740 bottles of IMFL stocked inside 395 boxes worth 18,96,000. A secret area was made by cutting the sheet of the tanker and the boxes of liquor were kept inside. While interrogating two people, one named Jitendra was in touch with Whatsapp and was giving direction to the driver because when they would reach Anand, he had to tell the delivery location.
The cops arrested two under the prohibition act and declared the tanker owner Jitendra Thakar and the unknown person from Anand who ordered the liquor as wanted.
