The forest department was rushed to Sakkarpur Borbhatha in Ankleshwar Taluka after two dolphins were spotted in Narmada river since the river is not the habitat for aquatic creatures.
According to locals, the dolphins were spotted after the river had dried up and sea water started spreading in the dry river bed.
The river dolphin is a critically endangered species in India and is entitled to the highest degree of protection. It was declared India’s national aquatic animal in October 2009.
