In memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle of India, a two-minute silence was observed on Saturday, January 30th, 2021, at 11.00 am on Martyrs’ Day to pay homage to them. The General Administration Department of the Government of Gujarat had asked the State Government to keep as much work and traffic as possible closed for these two minutes.
All workers in all the places where they are working were to stand quietly in their respective places and observe silence. Wherever possible, workshops, factories and offices were to be closed briefly. All India Radio had been requested to shut down its program for two minutes and the traffic be stopped on roads for as long as possible.
Trains and planes departing at 11.00 am were requested to stop at their stations for two minutes. When the period of silence is over, all resumed normal activities. In places where there is no siren or any other signal system, all concerned offices issued orders informed the concerned to observe two minutes of silence at 11.00 am.
