All the cadets are felicitated during the closing ceremony of CATC 3 organized by 3 Gujarat Battalion Vadodara. This was the B certificate second camp attended by 190 cadets from Bodeli, Dabhoi, Savli, Baroda, Chhotaudepur. The girls’ participation in the camp is inspiring and many of them want to pursue their careers in defense and other areas afterward.
Cadet Warrant Officer Mandeep Kaur Riar from 1 Gujarat Air Squadron NCC has represented Gujarat at the National level in the All India Vayu Sainik camp at Jodhpur in 2019. She was in the drill contingent and won 3rd prize with the other 12 cadets. She has been selected to represent her unit in CWS Best Cadet Competition. She was a left marker in MSU convocation and seeing her true dedication and enthusiasm she has been selected for DG commendation. A good shooter she got a chance to participate in the All India GV Mavlankar trophy.
Senior Under Officer Drashti Patil from 6 Gujarat Girls BN has represented Gujarat at the National level in RDC camp 2020. She has marched on Rajpath with 147 other cadets. She has made several videos, banners, and acts depicting Swachhta Abhiyan, Beti Bachao, and fitness awareness.
She has led her battalion with full responsibility as the senior-most cadet of the batch. Due to her devotion and dedication towards NCC, she got selected for the DG commendation award. In firing also she done well and also selected to attend the SSB capsule organized by Flame Career Academy through NCC. She has performed actively in the CWS Best cadet competition.
Drashti Patil, a basketball player is Pursuing her BA Economics honors and wish to become an Army officer in the future. Cadet Warrant officer Riar Mandeep Kaur a kabaddi Player wish to join Airforce.
Both the cadets said that social taboo is majorly the factor that stops the girls to join NCC and then Defence forces. They also said that girls’ participation shall increase in events like paragliding, Naval cruise, tent pitching and that helps girls enter more into NCC.
Senior Under Officer Parth Thakur from 3rd Gujarat Battalion NCC had participated in Republic Day Camp 2021 and represented Gujarat directorate at Rajpath with 100 other cadets and as a parade commander in PM rally with 25 cadets. He was felicitated for his performance and dedication.
NCC ANO Leftinent Ravinayak Patlavath was also felicitated after the culmination of the camp by S. Pawan Kumar CO 3 Battalion Gujarat. A-C certificate and Bravo grade he is a faculty in the Botany department in MSU Baroda and trains the cadets here.
Talking about the camp the cadets from different areas learn the basic skills which will help them in their careers. At the beginning of this camp, all the cadets went through a thermal test, rapid corona test, use of hand sanitizer, wearing masks, and maintain social distancing.
In the camp, the cadets learn the art of drill, map reading, weapon training, disaster management, communication during the war and social activity, disaster management, hygiene and sanitization, and civil authority responsibility of NCC cadets. The last day quiz test was also held to know what they learn during the camp.
“The camp is very important for the cadets as they learn military and not military training which helps them in their careers. The cadet’s participation was encouraging especially the girls and now it’s up to them to implement in better ways,” said S. Pawan Kumar CO 3 Battalion Gujarat.
