Amid fears of bird flu, panic spread among villagers over the death of about 20 birds on the shores of a lake in Dabhasa village in Padra taluka. Teams of forest department and animal activists rushed to the spot as soon as the incident was reported to them.

Meanwhile, a team rushed to Dabhasa as soon as the incident was reported to the Padra Forest Department. Animal activists also rushed to Dabhasa on learning of the incident. The Forest Department had proposed to conduct a postmortem of the birds to find out the exact cause of death of the birds and also to send the birds to Bhopal for examination.
Forest Department sources said that the 20 birds that died on the shores of Dabhasa Lake were white cuckoos. They said to wait for the postmortem report on how the birds died.
Bird flu has not been detected in any of the dead birds since the crows in Savli taluka showed symptoms of bird flu.
