2020 has been an uncertain year for everyone. But just like ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ this year had its silver lining in the form of good deeds done by people.
Performing just one act of random kindness can start a revolution of kindness and make the world a better place. And this year was made better by such good deeds. We have compiled a list for you below:
- Pradeep, a humble guy selling books on the footpath of Fathegunj opposite Bank of Baroda for years. All his income was sent to the family for help, he was left with no gas, no grain in the house. A Police Officer on Corona duty saw books lying on the sidewalk for days. He found Pradeep after searching for a long. The policeman took biryani for him. Pradeep ate biryani that day. He thanked the Police. Later police personnel kept delivering food to Pradeep.
- The Muslim neighbors performed the last rites of a Hindu man on behalf of the family members as they could not visit him for the rituals due to the lockdown.
- Sapan Machi, who runs his tea stall named ‘Shree Sainath Tea Center’ in the Bajwada area of Vadodara did his part by distributing free masks with a cup of tea to his customers.
- Karan Puri is a senior citizen was surprised when Haryana Police came knocking on his door with a cake on his birthday; as he was home alone.
- Two brothers, Atharv Khubele (13) and Advik Khubele (8) came up with the idea of ‘punarsthapan’ for migrants who lost their jobs during the lockdown. The duo convinced their father and roped in a software expert who designed an interface that acted as a bridge between job providers and job seekers.
- Abhigyan Prakash (19), a student of B com-LLB Hons at Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU), roped in other like-minded students and took upon the responsibility of teaching children of migrant laborers.
- Sikh community in New York offered a free meal to 30,000 people who were in COVID-19 isolation.
- Abdul Rahman, 55, a daily wage worker from Goodinabali village in Karnataka emptied his Hajj savings pot of Rs. 80,000 (AED 4,000) to feed the poor.
- 7-year-old Rommel Lalmuansanga from Kolasib Venglai (Mizoram), donated his entire savings of Rs. 333 to his Village Level Task Forces in this war against the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic.
- Various hotels like Taj, The Lalit had opened its door for nurses and doctors to acknowledge their contribution in such hard times.
