The Deepak Foundation’s Consortium of Inclusive Education is organizing a rally to push for inclusive education in schools.
Around 400 children will take to the streets at 8:30 am on Friday morning from the grounds of Deepak Foundation’s Samaj Suraksha Sankul to L & T circle (a total of 2.4kms) to raise awareness about how inclusive education is a legislative right and not a privilege. Children are from HDFS (Human Development and Family Studies), Disha school of autism and Samaj Suraksha Sankul among others are going to take part in the rally. Darpan Inani, the prolific blind chess player from Vadodara is going to be the chief guest who will give the opening address at 8:30 pm. He is the highest rated blind chess player in India with an ELO rating of 2053 as of Nov 2013.
Under the Consortium of Inclusive Education, Deepak foundation has already started a pilot project that has placed three visually impaired boys in 5th grade of BHS Danteshwar. They aim to place 20 more visually impaired children (3 girls and 17 boys) in different regular private and governmental schools from 6th to 11th standard.
The project has been funded by Deepak foundation, governmental grants, and donors.
The rally will help raise awareness about how important the inclusion of differently abled children is in regular schools.
