Vector-borne diseases like Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya are transmitted by mosquitoes. The infestation of these diseases increase during this time every year. The health department of the state government has issued precautionary guidelines in this regard.
Correspondingly, the Health Branch of Vadodara District Panchayat has deployed 661 teams for the control of mosquito borne diseases in the areas prone to it. These teams have conducted house visits, registered cases of fever, detected mosquito breeding grounds in the houses and carried out prevention and eradication operations. So far, 26% of the houses have been covered under the survey.
The teams inspected 75,110 houses and inspected 3,20,636 water containers and 4,977 containers of mosquito breeding grounds were made safe by proper cleaning and the breeding grounds of mosquitoes found in 2,808 houses were eliminated.
Chief District Health Officer Dr. Surendra Jain has urged the people to take necessary precautions to prevent water collected in and around the houses and from mosquitoes.
As part of this, anti-mosquito activities are being carried out on a large scale in the district by organizing rallies and awareness programs to educate the people about the prevention of mosquitoes and precautionary measures. Awareness programmes are also organised in schools to guide people about the precautionary steps and measures about the diseases.
