A police complaint had been lodged by the authorities of Vadodara against seven inmates for jumping the 60-day parole that was granted to them in March this year. Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic precaution, the government had decided to decongest prisons.

Amongst the absconding accused, one of them is an accused in a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, two of them are murder accused, and one is an accused in a rape case. The others are of different districts and accused in cases of assault and theft.
