Over the last few days, the number of COVID-19 cases has been on the rise. Local authorities urged the people to wear face masks and maintain social distancing through announcements in public places.
Despite such actions, Barodians are still flouting the COVID-19 guidelines. Over the last few days, cops have been deployed at the busy crossroads. The citizens who neglected the rules and guidelines were fined by the cops. 2-wheeler commuters are being penalized Rs 1,000 and those without masks in a 4-wheeler. The Police have also been using CCTV surveillance to identify and fine people who were not wearing masks.
On 27th and 28th November, the Police fined 2,839 citizens for not wearing masks and collected Rs. 28.39 lakhs fine. Along with this, the Joint Enforcement Team (JET) and VMC had already sealed the malls which were found violating the guidelines of COVID-19. Even the crowded markets in the city were sealed off.
Police have filed 263 cases of guidelines violation and have arrested 299 persons who were found moving around in the city for no valid reasons during the curfew hours.
In 12 days, the cops have penalized around 8,404 persons for not wearing face masks and collected fines of Rs 84 lakhs from the offenders.
