It is 90-year-old Jyotna’s birthday today. Though she has been voting since the first election, this time, she couldn’t cast her vote because of improper documents.
She used to have a voters id and proper documents in place but since she was out of town since the last few years, her election card got canceled. She says that the reason she gave up after a few efforts to get her name on the voting list is because she would have to run around a lot to get her name registered, which was just not possible at her age.
Jyotna used to work as a teacher before she retired and still wants to try and get her vote in because she realises the importance of her vote.
