Karjan by-elections voting tomorrow

DEO inspected the distribution of polling materials and dispatch of polling teams at Karjan SUB Issues important instructions regarding Covid 19 measures and provision of paid leave or facility for voting

The by-polls for the Karjan assembly seat will be held on Tuesday at 311 polling stations in Karjan, Shinor, and Vadodara village talukas with security and precautions against COVID 19. There is a competition between 9 contestants for this seat. Voters who do not like all the candidates can choose the option of NOTA.

Distribution of necessary materials including voting machines to the polling teams at the distribution center from early this morning was carried out in compliance with the COVID safety rules. District Election Officer Shalini Agarwal inspected it and gave guidance to the officials. Polling teams have been provided with a special Covid kit to use at the polling station.

The DEO said that the polling staff would wear face shields and masks, rubber socks on both hands, and use sanitizers. All these materials are given to them. She said it was important for every voter to come to cast their vote wearing a mask.

The polling station will have a health team that will measure the temperature, oxygen level of the voters, sanitize the hands, and give them a glove to wear on the right hand. They will take care to maintain social distance in the queue between voters.

She reminded that according to the rules of the Election Commission, in case the voter doesn’t like any candidate they can try the option of NOTA. The ballet unit has 10 no. place as NOTA. Polling teams were dispatched in two phases over Route 31 today as part of the Covid vigilance. Special provision was made and care was also taken to ensure compliance of covid precautions in distribution. Covid’s precautions were coordinated in the electoral system under the guidance of the commission. Deputy District Election Officer RP Joshi and Seat Election Officer and Province Officer look over all proceedings.

The District Electoral Officer has made a special request to the industrial units and commercial establishments to abide by the rule of giving paid leave to workers and laborers for voting.
