Police ‘slaps’ a fine and youth

Two youths named Ravi Patel and Alpesh Wala were passing by on a moped in the evening. A complaint has been registered in the police book that the Police Personnel present at the checkpoint near Samta, which falls within the limits of Laxmipura Police Station, stopped the two youths who were not wearing masks. According to the complaint lodged in the police book, the two youths were not wearing any masks. So, the Police Personnel told him to pay a fine. But the young man driving the moped took off his mask and started shouting loudly that they are members of the same family and they don’t even wear a mask at home. And so they don’t need to wear a mask, and won’t pay any fine. Despite repeated persuasions by Police Personnel, the youth didn’t wear the mask and refused to pay the fine. So the Police registered an offense under sections 269 and 270 of IPC against both the youths and took legal action.

The point to be noted is that according to the police complaint, the youths were not wearing any masks, but the Police have also mentioned that the youths were arguing with them after removing their mask.

According to the information received about the whole incident, both the youths riding on the moped were wearing masks but it was below their nose. So the Police asked them to pay the fine. But the youth did not have any cash on them and had called home for money. But the policemen in civil dress did not permit them to place a call and got agitated.  The youth around them started recording the incident on their mobile phones which agitated the civil-dressed policemen furthermore which led to them slapping and pushing the youth. The uniformed Police Personnels on the spot tried to disengage the crowd.
The whole incident was captured on CCTV.
