HO HO HO, time for some unknown facts about Christmas!

It’s Christmas, the most magical time of the year. The festival of love, cakes, presents, and Santa. Adding a cherry on the cake, Christmas decorations stir up feelings of pure joy and can modify some happy hormones in your body. But there’s more to Christmas than gifts and decorating the house. Read these Christmas facts which one might not know and make it even more special.

1. Many people’s favorite carol “Jingle Bells” written in 1857 was written for thanksgiving and was called “The One Horse Open Sleigh!” It was also the first song to be broadcast from space.

2.Santa Claus has worn many colors in his time including Blue, Green, White, and Red. The red suit came about when Coca-Cola had an advertisement campaign in the ’30s. They decided to dress him up in colors that match their brand and that stuck.

3. Christmas cakes are not really plum cakes. One of the best parts about Christmas is the Christmas cake, and we all love eating it. The cakes we get to eat during the Christmas holidays are known as plum cakes but there are, in fact, no plums in the cake! Raisins were known as plums in medieval times and the ingredients were stirred in an East to West direction similar to that of the journey of the three wise men.

4. The most expensive Christmas tree was constructed in 2010. The current Guinness World Record holder for the world’s most expensive Christmas tree is the Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi, valued at about $11 million. Shown in 2010, it stood at 43.2 feet and was lavishly decorated with 181 pieces of jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces, and watches.

5. One superstition regarding Christmas pudding is that it shouldn’t have more than 13 ingredients to represent Jesus and his disciples.

6. Many parts of the Christmas tree can be eaten, with the needles being a good source of Vitamin C. 

7. Santa Claus is known as ‘Christmas Baba’ in Hindi, ‘Christmas Thaathaa’ in Tamil and and ‘Natal Bua’ (Christmas Elder Man) in Marathi. In Kerala state, he’s known as ‘Christmas Papa.

8. The largest human Christmas tree is recognized by the Guinness World Record which consists of 4,030 participants and was made by Mission Chengannur and Sobhana George, in Chengannur, India, on 19 December 2015. The Christmas tree was mostly made up of school children from the village of Chengannur.
