COVID grips infants in Vadodara, SSG sets up a 10-bed facility

In a recent development, COVID has now gripped infants in Vadodara. As a precautionary step, a 10-bed facility has been set up at SSG hospital in Vadodara. The ward is now operational, with three infants already under treatment.

Dr. Sheila Aiyer, professor and head of the Paediatric Department, said, “From the last five to six days, COVID-positive cases of children have surfaced and the treatment is being undertaken. Predominantly, children catch the virus from COVID-positive parents and caretakers. However, those who are stable can home quarantine and continue the treatment from their home.”

She further added that in the last 15 days two infants were admitted to the hospital after testing positive. Their caretaker had also tested positive, hinting at the trail of the virus. Children are now prone to the virus. Therefore, the administration has raised a ten-bed facility at the paediatric ward of the hospital. She affirmed that they will put a proposal before the advisory board to increase the number of beds in case of more cases at the hospital.
