World Yoga Day : Coaches to be felicitated with certificates at Collectorate on Jun 21

UN has recognized 21st June as World Yoga Day through which programs including continuous training are given throughout the year to make yoga education a popular exercise.

Gujarat has formed the State Yoga Board to spread yoga to the villages and people of the state. As part of this, the Yoga Board has trained 21,000 yoga trainers over the last year through yoga coaches. One of the board’s yoga coaches from Vadodara, Dr. Sonali Malviya said that about 2,000 trainers currently trained by the board in Vadodara city and district are trying to make yoga a social and family habit and are taking it door to door. She has trained about 585 yoga trainers and was honored at the state-level program of World Yoga Day held in Gandhinagar in 2020. There are as many as 43 yoga coaches like her in Vadodara city and district.

For the second year in a row, it has not been possible to hold large public yoga practice programs in Corona. So this year too a felicitation program for yoga coaches has been organized at the Collectorate on 21st June at 10 am in which 10 leading yoga coaches will be honored with certificates. It will be preceded by a live broadcast of the Yoga Day program at the Chief Minister’s residence.

In addition to this, organizations and mandals including Yoga Niketan in the city district will organize Surya Namaskar and yoga practice programs in the city district following the Corona guideline in which seekers will stay at home and join online. An online program of Surya Namaskar Challenge has been organized by the Yoga Board in which more than 2 lakh performers will stay at home and will do about 25/50/75/100 Surya Namaskar and then upload the video.

Dr. Sonali said the Yoga Board’s trainers are targeted to engage at least 20 people with yoga every month. Under normal circumstances, they did this activity in public parks, societies, and in common plots of flats. Most online training has continued in the Corona era.

The city’s yoga coaches and trainers guided people to recover from corona by going their home or online yoga, pranayama and diet as part of post-corona rehabilitation.
