The police agitation over the pay grade issue now reached Vadodara as families of policemen beat plates and took out a rally on Wednesday night to show their protest. Top police officials had to intervene after a large number of police families gathered at the police headquarters. However, after persuasion by police officers, the agitation came to an end.
Police agitation has been going on in Gujarat for the last 4 to 5 days over the pay grade issue and is intensifying each passing day. In Vadodara, a large number of police families had gathered at the Pratapnagar Police Head Quarters late in the evening on Wednesday and raised their protest.
Women and children joined the rally by beating plates to raise their demands. “We are fighting for our rights and demand an increase in grade pay, union, fixed duty timings, and others. The agitation will intensify if our demands are not met by the government, ” said Rajesh Padhiyar from the Nadesari police station.
Another protestor Dakshaben said that due to unfixed duty timings they are not able to spend time and even celebrate festivals with family. There are pay and other issues but they are still doing our duty. We demand an increase in pay like others, fixed duty timings, and others.
Police officials reached the spot over the protest and control the situation.
