“Abhayam181 Women Helpline” and “Sakhi One Stop Center” Join Hands in Heartwarming Reunion Effort
In a heartwarming and commendable effort, Vadodara’s “Abhayam181 Women Helpline” and “Sakhi One Stop Center” collaborated with the “Nari Sankarsangriha” under the guidance of the District Mahila and Child Office to reunite an estranged Nepalese woman with her family.
The “Nari Sankarsangriha,” operating under the District Mahila and Child Office’s guidance, serves as a sanctuary for women in need, offering comprehensive assistance under one roof. Recently, it achieved a remarkable feat by successfully reuniting a Nepali woman, approximately 50 years old, with her family. This heartwarming reunion was made possible through the dedicated efforts of “Nari Sankarshan Griha” in Vadodara, with vital support from “Abhayam 181” and “Sakhi One Stop Centre.”
Several weeks ago, “Abhayam 181” encountered a woman, roughly 50 years of age, who appeared to be in a distressed mental state. Gathering information about her origins and how she ended up in Vadodara proved to be a challenging task. Consequently, she was initially referred to the “Sakhi One Stop Centre.” After spending 5 to 6 days at the center, she was safely transferred to the “Women Protection Home,” where her mental well-being was diligently monitored by a psychiatrist.
During counseling sessions at the “Women’s Defense Home,” it was revealed that she hailed from Gaushala village in the Mahotari district of Nepal. Tragically, her mental instability had led her, unknowingly, to Vadodara from Nepal via train.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, and under the guidance of the District Women and Child Officer, the women’s protection home’s manager initiated contact with a non-governmental organization in Nepal. Through this connection, the woman’s son and brother were located. According to the son’s statement, the woman had left their home.
Presently, the woman has reestablished contact with her family, and the police department is prepared to provide financial assistance for her train journey back to Nepal.
The “Nari Sankarshan Griha,” “Abhayam 181,” and “Sakhi One Stop Center,” all under the Women and Child Development Department, have exhibited exceptional dedication in safely reuniting distressed women with their families, marking a heartening success in their mission of support and care.
