The festival of Navratri beginning from 10 October till 17 October, followed by Dussehra on 18-19 October 2018, are the festivals grandly celebrated in Vadodara. Vadodara Police is geared up for the festival with a number of officers appointed at different areas. This time, in total 568 places comprising of small, medium as well as big Garba are organized. For the same are made special arrangements in order to ensure the security of people and smooth conduct of the festival which include the appointment of 30 P.I, 150 P.S.I, 3,000 Police Constables, 1,600 Homeguards, S.R.P team, sniffer dogs, 6 horse police as well as vraj, water cannon and 2 B.D.D.S teams. Along with this, Drug Screening Machines will be equipped to check drug suspects and Breath Analyzers to keep a check on the people consuming Alcohol. Additionally, there will be a special police force (in Civil Dress) appointed to keep a watch on the pocket pickers and eve teasers within the Garba grounds.
Special arrangements have been made for United Way Garba as the bridge near Vadodara Central is under construction. To make it easier for the people and control the traffic, a new road near Tricolor Hospital, till United Way will be opened. In terms of traffic management and security of the public, late night patrolling will be done by the police to keep a check on speeding and other probable issues. Adding to the same, 3-seater driving for boys who are not in traditional attires won’t be allowed. A notable service for women has been arranged wherein late at night, women in need can call on the number 100 after which the police will come and drop them home.
