Apps have changed the way we work, play and communicate. From ordering food online to keeping an eye on the corporal governance, they have made our life a lot easier. Vadodara has already carved its niche in becoming one of the topmost developing cities of the country. Talking about its corporation, VMC is doing wonders to make the city stand one step forward than its other counterparts. They are coming up with an app called My Vadodara where citizens can avail all the services they desire on a single click. Now the citizens don’t have to ring up or visit the VMC to report about potholes on the road, they can instead just click its picture and report it on the app. The process will be considered further! So this was just one of the example of the easier life that will be gracing the Barodians!
My Vadodara app aims to provide services that will help govern the lives more efficiently and smartly. Let’s look at some of the features of this app-
1. Panic button-
It is one of the most important features of this app which will enable the senior citizens to call for help during an emergency. To avail it, they just have to insert the phone numbers of their near ones and a panic signal would be sent on. Adding to it, it also contains child/women helpline numbers along with emergency signals for ambulance, police and fire brigade.
2. Information on heritage monuments, 1000 unique plants and zoo animals-
Now Barodians can get instant information on such places by just scanning the QR code attached to the site. This will immediately help them know the details of plants/monuments of the city. Even the prestigious Sayajibaug zoo’s animals’ information will be available on the QR scanning.
3. Events-
People can get to know the trending events in the city through the app. In the Events section, My Vadodara will have the list of events happening at different grounds of the city.
4. Crowdsourcing Complaint:
You saw a pothole or overflowing drainage on road? What to do next ? put it on social media ? NAHHH ! You can upload the picture of it on this mobile application and based on your GPS location, VMSS will pass on the complaint to respective Ward office.
5. Announcements-
Water Cut or Public Notice issued by VMSS? It was just through newspaper you were able to know, but now it won’t be the same case. All announcements on your fingertips
6. Find the nearest Public Toilet-
Nature’s Call? As a human etiquette, we should avoid peeing in public but how to locate the nearest public toilet ? This application will help you for the same.
7. Taxes and payments-
Under this section, people can easily pay their taxes without having to run to and fro from VMC.
8. Garbage van/Bin tracking-
A lot many times, it’s been reported that people don’t get to dump their garbage due to the irregularity in the van arrivals and timings. Through this service, citizens can easily live track the location of the garbage van through a GPS system. Also find nearest Dustbin installed.
9. Vitcos Bus route location-
Vadodara public bus transport is now easier to track through this. It will enable you to know about its whereabouts, arrival and departure time.
10. Get License and Certificate
Food License or Shop establishment certificate, just fill up the form given and upload necessary documents on the mobile application. now just sit and relax
The city app is one of its kind which has happened for the first time in the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has widely appreciated it. My Vadodara will bring together city services: immediate information with tourist interest thus promoting the commercial sector and generating value to citizens. The city open-data will provide valuable information for citizens, improve their quality of life and generate wealth.
Note: Type ‘MY VADODARA’ on Play Store or App Store to download it.
Very nice.
Where to complain regarding footpaths occupied by street vendors ?
V.good initiative first time by VMSS.
But could not see any details about encroachment on main roads n sublannes in the busy streets . The fruits, vegetable ,pan gallas, parking of vehicles on the footpaths, many busy roads are occupied by vehicles, rickshaws. Parked on the bus stops, the shop owners stack their goods on footpaths, extended up to the edge of the footpath. There is no place for pedestrians to walk or cross the roads n are compelled to walk on roads.
Wish some special attention will be drawn for the above daily life problems faced by the citizens.
