Government officials have been arrested for accepting bribes worth Rs 1.35 lakh in Central Special Economic Zone, Dahej.
Two anti-corruption officers busted two officials, two intermediaries, and an official officer of Central Special Economic Zone, Dahej.
Four of the accused have been arrested and one is on the run.
The complainant needed to buy 150-tonne scrap from Taga Company in Dahe. To buy the scrap, there is official documentation needed from the officers in the Central Special Economic Zone, Dahej.
For this, the accused officers Geetesh Hirabhai Parikh, Rakesh Sitara Prasad, Dinesh, Agnihotri, Mohit Mishra, Mukesh Kumar Jha asked for a bribe of 90 paisa for one tonne of scrap, which amounted to Rs 1,35,000. The officials also didn’t the let complainant’s truck which was full of scrap pass through till he paid the bribe.
The anti-corruption squad officers conducted a search operation at the residence of Geetesh Parikh’s Vadodara residence late last night. They have also started investigating the anonymous properties and bank accounts of the involved officers.
