Tightening security at malls: Need of the hour

Security personnel from local malls like 7 Seas, Inorbit, Inox and bus stations were briefed by the Vadodara police on how they can reinforce security measures.

This meeting was called after the Vadodara police conducted a security check at malls and bus stations in the city. Armed cops dressed in plain clothes entered these public spaces to check the preparedness of the security personnel there. But everyone failed to detect the fact that the people entering the malls were armed with weapons.

DCP Jaydeepsingh Jadeja briefed the security personnel on how to be prepared in the wake of the tense atmosphere. Here is the brief summary of the meeting:

*Security personnel should make sure that there CCTV cameras are functioning properly. They should check if the angle of the CCTV is proper if the camera can make out the faces of the people spotted and CCTV backup should be of at least 15 days.
*Parking lots should be monitored more strictly with proper scanning and functional CCTVs should be in place.
*Security scanners at the entrances of malls and bus stations should not be outdated. They should be functioning properly.
*Vadodara is the hotspot for communal tension in Gujarat, security personnel should be sensitive to any small fight that might turn into communal disharmony.
*The police will be on standby and ready to help anytime if the security personnel face any disagreements from people.
*Police will help get security personnel proper training once the tense atmosphere dies down.
If the security is found to be weak again, then strict measures will be taken.

DCP Jadeja said, “Our foremost motive is security, which is the need of the hour.”
