The airport authorities have come up with a solution for the high parking charges problem.
Now, Airports have been divided into four sections, Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D to help make a new tariff rate on vehicle parking at airports.
While huge, international airports like Ahmedabad fall in Group A, Vadodara Airport falls in group B along with Surat, Rajkot, and Indore.
Vadodara Airport director Charan Singh said these new parking charges for airports will be enforced from 5th April:
*People who are not parking their cars, but are just dropping people off on the airport will not be charged.
*Previous policy dictated that cars will be charged Rs 70 if they wait for more than 7 minutes. Now as long as the cars are not parked and they maintain discipline, they will not be charged.
*Till 30 mins: Cars will be charged Rs 30, two-wheelers will be charged Rs 10.
*From 30mins to 120 mins (2 hours): Rs 60 charge for a car, Rs 15 for a bike.
*After 2 hours: Cars will be charged an additional Rs 10 per hour and bikes Rs 5 per hour.
*From 7 hours to 24 hours: Cars will be charged Rs 180, and bikes Rs 120.
Lane Managers are going to be appointed to help with segregation of lanes. There are going to be four lanes, out of which three will be dedicated to arrivals and departures while one will be used for VIP guests.
Special permission is going to be given to people from surrounding party plots who want to park their cars in airports when they are hosting celebrations and parties as long as they maintain discipline.
