The police have arrested five men in relation to a gas pilfering racket. The police arrested Jayeshbhai Barwad and raided his house in Karelibaug near Jalaram Mandir in relation to his Anuj Gas Service shop near Safron Tower.
Jayeshbhai Barwad, the owner of Anuj Gas Service was arrested along with the tempo driver and his helpers for pilfering gas from filled gas cylinders and cheating his customers.
Jayeshbhai Barwad, Kalpesh Thakor, Mahendra Vasava, Pratapsingh Jadav and Naginbhai Madi were arrested and cylinders were seized from the owner’s house.
The police confiscated 33 filled gas cylinders worth Rs 13, 972.50, 5 empty gas cylinders worth Rs 1500, one tempo costing Rs 1,50,000 and refiling and repacking supplies worth Rs 1500 totally amounting to Rs 2,36,122.50.
The accused were booked under section 285, 379, 406, 420, 114, 120 for defrauding customers.
