The hippos in Kamatibaug zoo, Chunnu and Dimpy were separated after a fight broke out between the two.
Chunnu, the male hippo has injuries all over his body.
His legs have been broken by Dimpy, the female hippo. His hind legs were so gravely injured that he had to be lifted from the enclosure with a crane.
An injection had to be given to him by the vet to deal with the pain.
Last year, a baby hippo had died because of a fight between these two.
So when a second baby was born to the couple in January, it was kept in a separate enclosure.
