Police sends official notification to Ganesh Mandalis of Vadodara

Festival season is almost here and with that comes large public gatherings and the first notice by the Vadodara Police.

Almost a few weeks ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, the Vadodara Police Department has issued a press note for the mandalis who will be installing large clay idols of Lord Ganesha in pandals across the city.

The festival witnesses large congregations of humans as they get together during the arrival of the idol, while offering prayers throughout the 10 days, and during the immersion. During this period, the mandalis play bhajans and religious songs on loudspeakers and also setup DJ consoles.

Hence, to carry out a smooth functioning of the festival without hampering others’ daily routines, the Vadodara Police have laid out a set of instructions to the various organizers across the city.

  1. The organizers should take valid approval from their area’s Police Station to set up the pandal, after which they need to inform the entire route for the arrival and immersion of the idol to the station’s Police Inspector.
  2. The use of loudspeakers will be allowed from 6 am to 10 pm only.
  3. The volume, in terms of decibels, of DJ/loudspeakers should adhere to the guidelines given by the Supreme Court.

The auspicious festival begins on 2nd September’19 and ends of 12th September’19.
