Even a threat to throw acid in the face can send a shiver down anyone’s spine – in this case, the culprit was caught before he could act it out.
The father-son duo, Dipendra and Binix Hande, were caught by the Vadodara Crime Branch as they had repeatedly harassed and threatened a young NRI woman for forceful marriage.
The victim was living in the United States and was visiting her parents living here in the city. According to the Press Note released by the city’s Crime Branch, the victim and the culprit knew each other before she moved overseas. On her return, Binix reached out to her and blackmailed her to get married. He and his father had contacted the victim through social media as well to fulfill their agenda, to which the victim had repeatedly denied.
The abusive harassment took a huge leap when the young victim was out with her mother in a car and Binix stalked them down and broke the car glass by pelting stones. He then physically abused the victim by slapping her and threatened to kill her parents if she didn’t agree to marry him. Binix then took a bottle of acid from his two-wheeler with the intention to throw it on the victim’s face, however, he poured it on the road. This harassment turned into threats of throwing acid in her face if the date for their marriage was not fixed.
The father-son duo had also misused photographs of the victim and threatened to post their morphed version on social media and also abducted her dog from the victim’s home.
The duo has been slapped with multiple criminal offences which mainly include threatening, abusing and blackmailing a woman, threat to attack an individual with acid, induce or compel a woman to marry, misuse of a woman’s personal photographs, theft and abduction.
