On Saturday, March 21st, a young fellow named Abhimanyu Acharya tweeted through his twitter account stating that he had landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad from the flight which he took from Toronto, Canada. His tweet criticized Ahmedabad airport officials saying, “…No thermal check, no other checks. Just filled a self declaration and they let me go saying I am to self-isolate myself for two weeks. If this is how they do it, India is going to be in real bad trouble”
After a while, Ahmedabad Airport’s official twitter account responded to Abhimanyu’s tweet with a CCTV footage of Abhimanyu’s Infrared thermal scan done at the airport while he stood in the scanning queue.
Mr. Abhimanyu: Airport officials are putting their lives on risk to support the Society. Your statement is inappropriate and hurting. You deplaned on EY288 today at 0244 hrs & Infrared Thermal scanned at 0248 hrs. Please do not spread panic in Society and be a responsible citizen https://t.co/4SwbPhiojA pic.twitter.com/GEg6aEzo9S

In the following tweet, the airport further said, “Airport officials are putting their lives on risk to support the society. Your statement is inappropriate and hurting. You deplaned EY288 today at 0244 hrs & Infrared Thermal Scanned at 0248 hrs. Please do not spread panic in society and be a responsible citizen.”
Falsifying claims about airport officials being negligent in performing a thermal scan on people coming from abroad, who might be potentially carrying a deadly disease such as corona virus becomes a major concern for the whole nation.
Hence, shortly after this, Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner, Vijay Nehra responded by tweeting the following, “I have directed health officials to take appropriate legal action against this individual.”
