Jewelers sell vegetables with unique names

India is in the third phase of the lockdown due to the alarming rise of coronavirus cases. It has affected the economy and has made the daily wagers and seasonal workers suffer. Amongst these, even the jewelers have taken a hit in their business.

In Vadodara, Ghadiyali Pol and Karodiya Pol are closed due to nationwide lockdown and it has led the owners of the jewelry shops to make a living by selling vegetables. The Ghadiyali Pol-Karodiya Pol Jewellers Association on May 2, bought 400 kgs of vegetables from the APMC market, sanitized them, and put them for sale under ‘Sabji Jewelers’. The jewelers have started selling vegetables and have come up with creative and luring jewelry names for the vegetables to attract buyers.

In the Indrapuri society of Karelibaug, the vegetables are sold under the names of rhodium tomatoes, Cuttack work Spinach, 18-carat onions!

In the wake of reports of vegetable vendors infecting their customers, they bought the best quality of vegetables and sold them at their residences at a cheaper price. The group further plans to contact the farmers directly and procure organic vegetables and sell them directly to the grocers by removing the middlemen.
