Corona may spoil your Navratri plans this year

This pandemic has changed the dynamics for the present living generation. No one imagined that a micro-sized virus can bring the whole world on standstill. Currently, India stands third in the position for positive COVID-19 cases in the world.

India, the land of festivals celebrates every religion, culture and tradition. However, all festivals since the outbreak have been cancelled or downsized. This has never happened in many years. Vadodara, the city known for its Navratri celebration of 9 days is also among the top cities in Gujarat hit by COVID-19. Every year, thousands of garba players from all over the world come to the city to experience the traditional garba. But, the increasing corona virus cases in the city has made all garba lovers worrisome.

Usually, around this time of the year, major garba organizers start vast preparations for Navratri and the garba passes are set to be available to buy in the month of August. This year Navratri begins on October 17th, 2020. The Chair RDC of United Way of Baroda, Hemant Shah, said that, “United Way of Baroda is organizing garba since last three decades. For us, the health and safety of our players is our topmost priority and we shall abide to all the guidelines given by the government to us.”

Shah also added that, “Due to the experience of these many years, our team is ready with a set road map to execute garba this year. I have also met with the important vendors to understand their preparedness if asked to execute the tasks in a short period. If asked by the government to host the garba with limited number of people, it would practically impossible for us to deny entry to garba players who eagerly look forward to it. Its either full garba, or no garba!”
