Auto rickshaw drivers protest against the dress-code

Yesterday, the Gujarat government made blue uniform mandatory for auto-rickshaw drivers. This decision was taken to identify the auto-rickshaw drivers in the state. But this decision is being opposed by the state’s auto-rickshaw association.

On Wednesday the rickshaw drivers from Vadodara held a unique protest. They wore shorts and reached the district collector’s office. They gave a memorandum to the Additional Collector of their demands. They said that the lockdown has affected their employment seriously. The uniform is of around thousands of rupees, meanwhile, they don’t even have money to purchase clothes for their children.

They demanded a relief package and threatened to not abide by rules if their demands are not met. They also requested the government to give one year to them.
