A fire broke out early in the morning at a shop located at Sainath Complex near Tarsali Lake in Vadodara.
The fire was immediately brought under control by the GIDC fire brigade with a continuous flow of water. A panic situation was created among the people living in the complex. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Makarpura GIDC Fire Sub Officer Nikunj Azad said that the Sainath Complex is located in front of Tarsali Lake and houses the offices of the agency supplying labor to the companies. People also live in this complex.
As soon as the incident was reported their team rushed to the spot and doused the fire with a continuous flow of water. The AC, located in the office was gutted in the fire. As per the preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by a short circuit.
According to the sources, the fire broke out in the agency’s office at 4 am and after that, the residents rushed down to safety. The power cut in the complex caused a panic in people as it was dark everywhere. To help the residents, people from the other complex also rushed to the spot. The incident created a lot of panic in residents as they were sleeping at the time of the fire.
It is to be mentioned that today a mock drill was also conducted by the Fire Brigade at Vadodara Central ST Terminal about the precautions and other safety parameters taken in case of fire. The mock drill was organized under the guidance of Chief Fire Officer Parth Brahmbhatt and performed by Officer Om Jadeja and his team. The drill also creates a sense of urgency in passengers.
The team displayed real-time situations of fire at the mock drill and the ways to control it. The fire team showed the ways to control the fire in LPG and CNG vehicles parked in the basement of the bus stop. In the food court on the third floor of the bus stop, a person in need of medical treatment is lifted by a stretcher, and arrangements are made to transport him to the nearest hospital by private vehicle if an ambulance is not required.
If persons are trapped due to fire on the fifth floor of the bus stop, rehearsals were conducted on how to carry out the rescue operation using a 30-meter high sky lift with the help of the Vadodara Fire Brigade.
The CBSC’s own Emergency Response Team checked their work and how well the existing fire safety equipment was working.
