Accused attempts suicide in Warasia police station lock-up

*A man tried to commit suicide after he was arrested by officers of Warasia police station and Zone IV of city police.

*The man and his friend were arrested on late Sunday night after they rammed their bike into a lawyers car near Sangam crossroad.

*The accused who works in a prominent cardiac hospital in OP Road first tried to attempt suicide by banging his head against the jail bars and started bleeding profusely.

*When the guards pulled him out from there and made him sit in the PSO’s room, he started to bang his head against the table.

*When he was rushed to Jamnabai hospital to treat his wounds, he started banging his head against a glass panel wall in the hospital.

*He was then rushed to SSG Hospital as it was suspected that he had a psychological problem. The accused has received counselling and was taken back to the police station where he will be under constant watch.

*An attempt to commit suicide case has been registered against him under section 309 of the Indian Penal Code.

* The police got his blood samples to make sure he was not behaving under the influence of any drugs.
