The veteran leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Patel died early yesterday morning while undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. His son Faisal tweeted and announced the death of his father. He also requested people to follow Covid guidelines for their safety.
On Wednesday night his body arrived at Vadodara airport where top Congress leaders including Amit Chavda, Hardik Patel, Siddharth Patel, and many others along with well-wishers and party workers were present to receive the body of Ahmed Patel. As per Patel’s wishes, his mortal remains were buried next to his parent’s grave.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Gujarat Congress President Amit Chavda, AICC in-charge of Gujarat Rajeev Satav, leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and former chief ministers Kamal Nath and Shankersinh Vaghela were among those who attended the funeral.
After arrival, the leader was given a guard of honor by the Seva Dal along with others who remained present to pay their respect to the leader who was the backbone of the party.
