Ahmedabad Police introduce a child-friendly police station room at Paldi Police Station

In a significant development, Ahmedabad Police has taken a new approach to enhance their services and create a more child-friendly environment within the police stations. The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Harsh Sanghvi, virtually inaugurated the Child Police Station Room at Paldi Police Station, marking the first child-friendly police station room in the city. This initiative aims to rescue children trapped in adverse situations and help them regain a sense of normalcy in their lives.

The collaboration between the City Police and the Man Foundation has resulted in the establishment of this child-friendly police station room. The room is designed to provide a safe and welcoming space for children who find themselves in distressing circumstances. The Minister of State for Home Affairs applauded the efforts of the Gujarat Police, recognizing their humane approach in ensuring the welfare of children.

Alongside the inauguration, a special training session on child-friendly practices was organized. Experts provided guidance on creating an environment conducive to the corrective and developmental approach, specifically tailored for children. The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Harsh Sanghvi, commended the entire city police for their dedication in setting up the child-friendly room at Paldi Police Station under the guidance of the state government. He also expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel for his support.

Speaking about the achievements of the Gujarat Police, Shri Harsh Sanghvi highlighted their exemplary work in five key areas:

  • The first topic emphasized their commitment to combating drug abuse. The police are determined to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
  • The second topic focused on women’s safety, with the Gujarat Police taking swift action against criminals to prevent crimes against women and ensure their security.
  • The State Police’s efficiency in preparing charge sheets within a short period and bringing offenders to justice was recognized as the third area of accomplishment.
  • The Minister also emphasized the behavior of traffic police towards citizens, ensuring fairness and understanding in situations where individuals may have forgotten their licenses or other required documents by mistake.
  • The fourth area of focus was the elimination of corruption. Shri Harsh Sanghvi praised the efforts of the police in apprehending usurers who exploit ordinary families, further ensuring the return of money, houses, and ornaments to the affected families. Collaborating with banks, thousands of citizens have also been provided with low-interest loans.
  • Lastly, the prevention of crimes against children was emphasized as a top priority. The police department is working diligently to create a favorable environment that protects children and supports their well-being. The establishment of the Child Friendly Police Station is a testament to the innovative approach taken by the Ahmedabad City Police in safeguarding children.

Addressing the police personnel, Shri Harsh Sanghvi urged them to remain committed to rescuing children from difficult situations and helping them reintegrate into normal lives. He emphasized that the police officers have a crucial responsibility in changing the mindset of children by treating them with sensitivity and friendliness.

During the Rath Yatra festival, a special team consisting of Ahmedabad City Police and CID Crime successfully reunited over 70 missing children with their families. This accomplishment showcases the dedication and effectiveness of the Ahmedabad City Police in safeguarding children’s welfare.

Police Commissioner in-charge of Ahmedabad City Police,  Premveer Singh, expressed his gratitude for the guidance and cooperation received from Minister Harsh Sanghvi and the State Police Department. He acknowledged that children are the most valuable assets of the nation and emphasized the importance of nurturing them in a progressive society. The child-friendly police station aims to create a safe and supportive environment for children, and the inclusion of child psychologist specialists further strengthens this initiative.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of Joint Police Commissioner Ajay Chaudhary, Ahmedabad Range IG V. Chandrasekhar, Ahmedabad Rural SP Amit Vasava, along with other high-ranking officials of the city police and several MLAs. Their collective support and participation exemplify the significance and commitment to ensuring the welfare of children within the society.

The establishment of a Child Friendly Police Station room in Paldi Police Station is a remarkable step taken by the Ahmedabad City Police.
