AIIMS Bhopal Achieves Historic NABH Accreditation, Setting New Healthcare Standards

– An article written by Shivani Gadre

In a monumental achievement, AIIMS Bhopal has become the first government hospital in Central India to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), a prestigious recognition bestowed by the Quality Council of India. This accolade is a testament to AIIMS Bhopal’s unwavering dedication to delivering top-tier healthcare services. The rigorous evaluation process involved comprehensive tests and assessments, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to international standards of patient care, safety, and operational excellence.

Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, expressed his elation, stating, “The NABH accreditation is a testament to our team’s dedication to providing exceptional healthcare services. It underscores our position as a healthcare leader in Central India.” In a media interaction at AIIMS Bhopal, Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh shed light on the stringent processes undertaken to meet NABH standards. The accreditation process involved a meticulous examination of parameters such as patient safety, infection control, infrastructure, and adherence to best medical practices.

This accreditation is not just a recognition of AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to quality but also establishes it as a frontrunner in healthcare nationally. It reflects the institution’s ongoing efforts to elevate healthcare standards and ensure the well-being of the community. AIIMS Bhopal acknowledges the contributions of dedicated healthcare professionals, staff, and stakeholders to this accomplishment. The institution remains resolute in its commitment to delivering world-class healthcare services and looks forward to continuing its journey of excellence in serving the community.

This accomplishment establishes Bhopal AIIMS as the first hospital in Central India to attain such recognition, surpassing even Nagpur and Delhi AIIMS. Unlike its counterparts, Bhopal AIIMS secured accreditation for its entire 960-bed facility for a substantial two-year period, setting a new benchmark. NABH, in affiliation with the Quality Council of India, strives to elevate healthcare standards nationwide, ensuring superior healthcare services for the public. This accreditation process, initiated in 2014, rigorously evaluates hospitals based on stringent criteria outlined by the Quality Council of India. It assesses operational aspects, patient care, infection control measures, specified treatment procedures, staff proficiency, and the availability and legality of fundamental facilities within the hospital. Hospitals that meet these stringent standards are awarded accreditation by NABH, signifying their commitment to excellence in healthcare.
