An Air India Airbus has been grounded at Vadodara Airport for almost a week due to engine replacement.
The airlines allegedly needs to fly in the spare engine for the domestic aircraft from Delhi, however, that only seems possible after the AI clears their tax arrears.
A senior official of AI said that the airlines has GST dues of about Rs. 100 crores because of which they are unable to complete the paperwork to send in the engine from Delhi to Vadodara. The airline is hoping to clear their dues by Thursday, after which they can raise an E-way required for the shipment.
Air India is currently facing a life threatening fund crunch and is now struggling to keep flying while they await the outcome of the government’s decision to sell it off.
