In the first nine months of operation of over bridge rooftop solar power plant on Akota-Dandia market pool in Vadodara city in the whole of Gujarat, Rs. 50 lakh clean electricity will get generated. Solar panels have generated a total of 7,92,000 units of energy during these nine months at Akota Bridge, which looks attractive due to its structural design and lighting.
For this unique project implemented by Vadodara Municipal Corporation last May, the civil work of 11,200 square feet with a length of 252 meters and a width of 40 meters, and an eight of 15.33 meters cost a total of Rs.23.25 crore. Decorative color lighting has been installed under the rooftop solar to illuminate the bridge at night.
A total of 3024 solar panels of 325-watt power got placed over the Akota Bridge, accompanied by 14 solar inverters of 70 kW and a power transformer with a capacity of 1000 kW amperes. The solar panel got made of a material called a blue wafer. Blue Wafer, made of aluminum and copper which, brings neutrons into the stream from the radiation of sunlight and produces electricity.
All of the panels are angled northwest at 12 to 18 degrees. As a result, sunlight is available at all times of the day. This rooftop solar project can generate 3,940 units of power per day and 14 lakh units of electricity per year.
The irony is that, given Gujarat’s geographic location, solar energy may be produced by solar panels from 7:30 AM to 5:45 PM under typical conditions. From 11:30 AM until 3:30 PM, they receive the most solar energy.
All the panels get cleaned every fortnight. When there is no sunlight, 50 to 60 panels get cleaned every day.
From May 2021 to January 2022, the number of units of solar energy produced per month was:
- 29,910 in May
- 1,24,920 in June
- 1,09,680 in July
- 82020 in August
- 22,620 in September
- 1,22,175 in October
- 1,05,315 in November
- 88,964 in December
- 1096 in January.
A total of 7,92,000 units of clean electricity got generated in these nine months.
At night, electricity is needed to keep the transformer working, which uses 700 to 900 units every month. In the nine months since then, 7,85,100 units of solar energy got generated. In nine months, a direct profit of Rs.47,33,550 was made at a cost of Rs.6.7 lakh. More than 50 lakh kilowatts of electricity have been produced. At three locations, the Central Gujarat Power Company uses solar energy to provide HT electricity to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Khanderao Market Building receives 12.18% of total solar energy, Rajivnagar Sewage Plant receives about 54.95%, and Atladara Suez Plant receives about 32.87%. During these nine months, these three sites received a total of 86,063, 3,88,271, and 2,32,256 solar units, respectively.
The Akota-Dandia Bazar Bridge rooftop solar power project, realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of zero carbon emissions and clean electricity, has this advantage, as the saying goes.
