All about Ahmedabad Metro, travel hassle-free, read about the rules

Ahmedabad, also known as the ‘metro’ city welcomed its long waited metro project Phase-1 on 30th September 2022. While the 6.5 km section of East–West corridor was inaugurated on March 2019. The stations of Kankaria East, Sabarmati Railway Station, and Thaltej Gam are not yet ready. 

But before you travel, check the list of do’s and dont’s issued by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited for smooth metro travel:

The Contactless Smart Token (CST) and Contactless Smart Card (CSC) have been issued for traveling. Although temporary paper ticket will be issued if both the above options are not available due to some technical error. But tickets can be booked as an individual, group, and tourist tickets as well. Children who are below 3 feet (90 cm) are allowed to travel for free accompanied by adults.

Most importantly, the maximum permissible time is 20 minutes in case of an Exit from the Same Station and 120 minutes in case of an Exit from another Station. Only weight up to 25 kgs luggage is allowed.

Avoid reading newspapers or crossing your legs on the crowded train as it leaves less space for fellow passengers. No pets are allowed in the metro, so the pawrents will have to wait for such a facility where they can take their furry child.
