The Drug Delivery System Developed for Ovarian Cancer by a Barodian Dr. Priyanka Bhatt wins Young Scientist Award- RACE 2019
Dr. Priyanka Bhatt, a young researcher who is currently working as a post-doctoral research scholar in University of South Florida, Tampa, USA,
Bachelor’s in Pharmacy from Parul University later she did her Master of Pharmacy and Ph.D in Pharmacy from MS University Her research area is focusing on pharmaceutical sciences in the area of formulation development, drug delivery and gene therapy for cancer with extensive experience of pre-formulation and formulation development of nanoformulations such as liposomes, immunoliposomes, nanoparticles and non-viral gene delivery vectors. She has developed target based liposome formulation of anti-cancer paclitaxel drug for the treatment of ovarian cancer. Active targeting of these liposomes to specific receptor expressed on ovarian cancer cells by decorating them with a receptor specific ligand was aimed to improve efficacy of chemotherapeutic agent and to decrease its toxicity to the normal cells.
