Be prepared for traffic jams in Jivrajpark area: A new bridge is being constructed to avoid traffic congestion

The problem of traffic jams in Ahmedabad is getting worse hence, the government is working on a new bridge project to ease traffic congestion. The system is also working towards repairing the years-old existing bridge in the city and making it accessible to motorists. Under which the authorities have now speeded up the work of repairing the railway overbridge connecting the Jivraj Park area of ​​west Ahmedabad with Shyamal Char Rasta, Shivaranjini crossroads.

The total worth of the project is 80 lakhs which will be provided by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). This bridge is also known as Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Bridge, which was built by Ahmedabad Urban Development Association (AUDA) in 1995. At present, this 27-years-old bridge is in need of repairs.  The expansion joining on the bridge road is causing accidents for motorists. The construction needs renovation because the fatal accidents are increasing.

The repairing work will take around two-three months. The authorities will first repair the ascending lane from Jivraj Park to the Shyamal crossroads. After that, the second lane coming down from Shyamal Char Rasta towards Jivraj Park will be repaired. The system claims that it will take two months to repair these two lanes. But due to delays in repairing other river bridges, repair work could take up to two-and-a-half months.

However, as thousands of vehicles pass through this bridge daily, it will be an important bridge to connect areas like Vasana, Jivraj Park, and Vejalpur in west Ahmedabad with Jodhpur, Bodakdev. Hence, this bridgework is going to be tedious and the citizens will face issues while crossing resulting in traffic jams.

The authorities are planning to reopen the bridge on 15th August. The length of Jivraj Park Bridge is 780 meters. It also has a total width of 18 meters with both lanes of 7.5 meters, a central verge of 500 centimeters, and a one-meter sidewalk on each side. Authorities have focused on the reconstruction of the Khokhra railway overbridge, which has been delayed for years.The system will then accelerate in the direction of repairing other railway overbridges in the city.
