People in Vadodara are busy fighting the war against coronavirus and are trying to help each other in various ways. But there are a few others who instead of extending support and help, search for a chance to dupe a person. There have been rising cases of online frauds during the lockdown period. Cybercrime cell cops have received around 50 complaints of fraud calls with money siphoning of more than Rs. 10,000. Online transactions are growing due to less availability of cash and the fraudsters are coming up with different strategies to extract money in these difficult times.
In a recent case in Vadodara, it has been noticed that few fraudsters are transacting money under the ‘https://www.kycfastag.in/’ website. The website is registered under the ‘Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS)’ domain which is considered secure in comparison to ‘HTTP’. Another important thing to be observed is that usually, a tollfree number has an automatic response system which in this case was missing. A call is made under the pretext of asking for KYC and fastag update and after the call, a google form is sent to the number which asks for personal details, card number, and CVV. After this, the person is asked to download the TeamViewer application on their device, which shall help them get the OTP. BEWARE and under no circumstance should anyone download the TeamViewer app as it allows the other party to view each and every activity you do on your device and can record your personal details and pin numbers too.
Every bank has instructed its customers to not share their OTP with anyone and it applies in every case. In case of any queries, always visit the official website of the particular bank or company.
A complaint has been registered at Gandhinagar Cybercrime cell regarding this issue.
