The ongoing monsoons are taking a toll on the city’s residences with large water pools and puddles increasing mosquito production and diseases. But what happens if the residents take matter in their own hands to solve their basic environmental issues?
Residents of Bhayali area have invited PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate the digging procedure for the drainage system in the area. Notably, the digging will be done by the residents themselves. The uncommon incident arose after the residents were frustrated and tired after doing rounds of the VUDA, but all their requests went in vain since the last 3 years.
In the grievance mail addressed to the PMO, the residents shared that the VUDA refused to work on the drainage system as the area fell under the Gram Panchayat, however the Gram Panchayat does not have enough funds to build the drainage system.
Bhayali area is posh population of more than 100 societies with homes starting from 25 lakhs and going up to 1.5 crores. However, there has been no drainage system provided. This leads to the drain water leak onto the main roads.
A similar situation is soon to develop in the Kalali area of the city as the area does not have developed roads and drainage system – and at any given point, they may face an identical condition.
The suffering residents of Bhayali have refrained from going out or inviting guests due to the conditions outside their societies.
