Booster Shot Vaccination Drive: Frontline workers, health workers and 60 + aged citizens with comorbidities will get third dose of vaccine

To tackle the third wave of COVID-19, third dose vaccination drive has been initiated by Vadodara District Health Department. The dose will be given to frontline workers, health workers and citizens aged 60 years and above with comorbidities from 10th January, 2022. The staff has been trained and the necessary arrangements have been made for the drive.

Under the guidance of  District Collector and District Development Officer and following the state government’s guidelines and according to the information available on Cowin portal 30,726 people are eligible for the third dose stated Dr.  Surendra Jain, Chief District Health Officer.

 Informing that the health system is ready to administer third dose vaccine as per the guideline of and State Government’s guideline, Chief District Health Officer Dr. Surendra Jain said that according to information available in Cowin Portal, a total of 30,726 people from above This means giving a third protective dose. 

Vadodara District Health Department has made pre-arrangements to give the third precautionary (precautionary dose) dose of COVID-19 vaccine to the eligible citizenss in various categories with necessary training and arrangements. The department has planned to give a booster shot from10th January. Informing that the health system is ready to administer third dose vaccine as per the guideline of District Collector and District Development Officer and State Government’s guideline, Chief District Health Officer Dr. Surendra Jain said that according to information available in Cowin Portal, a total of 30,726 people from above This means giving a third protective dose. The dose will be given to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and seniors 60 years of age or older who have certain co-morbidity including heart disease, kidney disease, and have completed 9 months from the date of second vaccination, based on medical advice. Those who have taken Covaxin in the first two doses will be given Covaxin and Covishield dose will be given to people who have taken Covishield doses. In the district, 11,913 people in 60+ are eligible for third dose, out of which 07 people are eligible for Covaxin and for Covishield.

There is no need to register from a new account, the registration can be done from the existing account for the third dose. The 60 years and above citizens with comorbidities will have to provide correct information regarding their medical health at the vaccination centres. Citizens will have to carry their Aadhar card for registration, till now 140 centres have been set up for the vaccination drive in government hospitals.

Dr. Jain said that Acting Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Mukesh Kumar today held a meeting with Municipal Commissioner, District Collector as well as city and district health officials to review the situation regarding Covid and intensify the operation of Dhanvantari Raths.
