Brain dead patient donated organs and gave 3 people a second chance at life

The organs of the brain dead woman were donated by the Dheeraj Hospital at Pipariya near Vadodara. Two kidneys and liver were transported to the Institute of Kidney Diseases and CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad through Green Corridor. The family has saved the lives of 3 people through this organ donation.

Truptiben Bhaveshkumar Aparnath, 34, resident of Ankleshwar, was admitted to Dhiraj Hospital at Pipariya near Vadodara with serious head injuries due to a road accident. She was admitted to the Neurology Department and a team of doctors treated her. Meanwhile, on February 6th, Trupti was declared brain dead by the medical team and her family was informed.

The doctors persuaded the family to donate her organs which could save another person’s life. The family gave their nod and the hospital informed the doctors of the Institute of Kidney Disease and CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad. They immediately came to Dhiraj Hospital and the process of organ donation was completed with the help of doctors here.

In addition to the team of Dheeraj Hospital, Dr. Pranjal Modi, Convener of State Organ Transplant Authority, Dr. Priya of National Transplant Authority, and Counselor Dr. Dipali worked hard to complete the kidney and liver donation process.

Nearly a month ago a 17-year-old girl Nandini Shah from Halol was declared brain dead and the family donated her heart, lungs, two kidneys, two eyes, and liver. The heart was transported to Delhi and lungs to Mumbai by air with the help of a green corridor created by Vadodara City Traffic Police as the ambulance covered the 6.8 km distance from the hospital to Harni Airport in 8 minutes. Kidneys, eyes, and liver were transported to Ahmedabad IKD by a green corridor. This was the first case in Vadodara of donating 7 organs simultaneously.
