A building under renovation collapsed behind Jubilee Baug, opposite Saibaba Mandir at 11:15 am but there are reportedly no casualties till now.
The three-story building was going extensive renovation and had eight laborers working in it. Reportedly, proper columns were not built to support it and it collapsed. Four shops were destroyed by the falling debris which included a shoe shop and a paint shop.
Witnesses reported that the laborers left the building because it started swaying right before it fell. Dharmendra bhai Thakkar and his worker, who own the paint shop that was partially destroyed would have also been caught under the rouble but escaped by the skin of their teeth because a wooden beam blocked the debris from falling on them.
