City traffic police launch road ‘courtesy’ campaign

To ensure safety and mannerism on road for people, Vadodara Traffic Police has launched a campaign called Road Courtesy. This comes after an intense drive for the safety of commuters. The city police have come up with the idea of educating citizens by acknowledging them with basic driving discipline during peak hours.
City’s police commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut, came up the idea of a campaign which will continue for the entire month. Amita Vanani, traffic ACP says, “Every year, a lot of vehicles increase on the roads and commuters are not patient at all while driving so that’s why we’ve launched this campaign.”
The campaign was started on 1st October and will be continued for an entire month. The cops have begun educating citizens about keeping enough distance between two vehicles. They have also asked them to keep safe distance especially from big vehicles to avoid accidents. Apart from this, they will also focus on mannerism and etiquettes of commuters who often tend to pick up fights when an accident happens by mistake.
The campaign will also focus on patience on roads. Commuters will be asked to not to honk unnecessarily when there’s a traffic jam. Adding to that, commuters are required to have foresight while driving and give the signal when they’re changing lanes. And last and foremost, to give way to emergency vehicles and never overtake from the wrong side.
The police have also started checking vehicles in busy areas. They have also penalised thousands of commuters for breaking of traffic rules and parking vehicles in no parking zone. The idea revolves around cracking down of notorious drives who create havoc in the night and create trouble.
