Collector informs about vote counting process on Tuesday

City Municipal Elections, Collector Shalini Agarwal scrutinized the arrangements for counting of votes at the Polytechnic and gave detailed information about it.

A three-tier security has been set up at the counting center of the Polytechnic College by the city police.  To maintain law and order SRP, BSF and local police have been deployed.

A total of 8 strong rooms and votes will be counted under the supervision of 12 Returning Officers (R.O) and Assistant R.O. in a total of 12 counting rooms. Nodal officers of GEB, Water Supply have been appointed to ensure uninterrupted supply at the polling station.

The on-duty officers and employees, election agents of the candidates, all the concerned including the counting agents must have an official pass and they must strictly adhere to the guidelines of COVID-19. Mobile Phones in the counting center is prohibited.

The counting process will begin at 8 a.m. with the counting of postal ballots and polled votes, followed by the counting of EVM votes. The process will begin with a phased wise ward count.

Ward numbers 1, 4, 7, 10, 13 and 16 are included in the first phase followed by  2, 5, 8, 11, 14 and 17 in the second phase. In the third phase, votes will be counted in wards 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and finally in ward 19.

Hand gloves, masks and sanitizers have been arranged for the table inspectors, supervisors and staff to ensure that the COVID-19 guidelines are followed. A total of 84 counting tables will be set up in all centre for the process.

The results will be entered online on the State Election Commission’s web site and viewed on the web site. It will be broadcast publicly through a loudspeaker. Counting agents will be given phased admission as their ward count begins.
